Pallet sorting and repair line for Wipal

Pallet sorting and repair line for Wipal

For Wipal, Pallet Sorting Systems (PSS) delivered a pallet sorting and repair line in which sorting and repairing are fully integrated into one clear and structured installation. The line is built as a standard PSS configuration and designed to allow pallets to circulate in a controlled way between inspection, repair and sorting.

The pallet sorting and repair line forms the core of the operation. Pallets are sorted and inspected first. Pallets that do not meet quality requirements are stacked separately and made immediately available for repair. After repair, these pallets are reintroduced into the line and automatically stacked in the correct sorting position.

Layout and operation of the pallet sorting and repair line

The installation includes four workstations for pallet repair operators. Pallets requiring repair are supplied via a side infeed, allowing operators to work continuously without interruptions caused by internal transport.

After repair, the pallets are fed back into the line. The sorting section is equipped with five stackers for sorted pallets. These stackers are shared by both the sorter and the repair operators. In addition, a sixth stacker is used to collect defective pallets, which are then supplied directly to the repair stations.

This layout creates a logical and closed process in which pallets move efficiently between sorting and repair.

Benefits for operators

  • fixed workstations for sorter and repair operators
  • infeed and outfeed via conveyors instead of manual handling
  • clear separation between sorting and repair activities
  • reduced forklift movements around the workstations

The pallet sorting and repair line contributes to a safe and well-organised working environment with predictable workflows.

Benefits for Wipal

  • integrated pallet sorting and repair line in one installation
  • efficient use of labour
  • controlled pallet flows throughout the process
  • standard PSS configuration with expansion options

Thanks to the modular design, the line can be extended in the future with additional PSS modules.

Efficiency and monitoring

The pallet sorting and repair line is prepared for integration with PSS SCADA. This allows Wipal to monitor key parameters such as processed pallet volumes, sorting results and utilisation of the repair workstations. Reports are available via CSV files and through the PSS App, providing insight into daily performance.

Result

With this pallet sorting and repair line, Wipal operates a clear and efficient installation in which pallets are sorted, repaired and stacked with minimal handling and transparent process flows.
