PKF Post Venlo has invested in a new paint booth from Pallet Sorting Systems (PSS) to improve the efficiency and sustainability of painting Chep, IPP and LPR pallets.
The installation combines low-maintenance operation with intelligent paint handling and a built-in pallet drying unit using high-pressure air knives.
This upgrade significantly improves process control and reduces yard contamination.
The PSS paint booth uses a low-pressure paint system that operates without air filters and requires minimal maintenance.
This approach reduces paint consumption and operating costs while remaining simple to use.
The system can be run without complex training, increasing productivity and limiting downtime.
The latest version of the PSS paint booth introduces two innovations that make the process cleaner and more consistent:
Pallet drying installation with high-pressure air knives
After painting, each pallet stack passes through a drying unit where air knives remove excess paint and moisture.
This sets a new standard for pallet painting.
Whereas conventional systems spread wet paint across the yard when forklifts pick up freshly painted pallets,
the PSS drying unit eliminates up to 80 % of yard contamination and keeps the work area clean.
Automatic paint dosing and mixing per 50 litres
Instead of mixing in a 1000 L tank, paint is now prepared in small 50 L batches using dosing pumps for three colours and water.
This ensures a better paint-to-water ratio, prevents sedimentation and clogging, and keeps the system cleaner.
Smaller batches improve reliability, reduce waste, and simplify daily operation.
The booth features liquid-tight floors inside the cabin and beneath the outfeed conveyor.
Excess paint is automatically collected and returned to a reservoir for reuse, minimizing waste and keeping the workspace clean.
The pump unit and mixing platform are designed to prevent leaks, and the booth can be positioned directly behind pallet stackers, reducing forklift movements and improving safety.
Paints containing lime require regular flushing.
The PSS booth includes an automatic cleaning cycle that switches from paint to water to rinse pipes and filters.
This daily procedure prevents blockages, extends component lifespan, and ensures steady performance between painting cycles.
Pallet drying installation with air knives reduces yard contamination by 80 %.
Automatic 50 L dosing system for three colours and water ensures clean mixing.
No air filters – lower maintenance and operating costs.
Paint recovery system – excess paint is reused.
Liquid-tight floor – clean and safe workspace.
Daily rinse cycle prevents lime buildup and downtime.
With this advanced setup, PKF Post Venlo adopts a sustainable, efficient painting process that supports modern pallet logistics.
The combination of paint recovery, air-knife drying, and precise batch dosing reduces waste, contamination, and maintenance effort —
delivering a clean, reliable, and efficient workflow that integrates seamlessly with existing sorting and repair lines.
